Colour can bring your labels to life

Ensuring your products stand out in a crowded marketplace is essential to any business. And the importance of the item’s label shouldn’t be underestimated. When it comes to choosing the right colours, a small label can make a big impact.

Any labels on your clothing or products become an important part of the buying experience. From a brightly-coloured swing tag carrying your branding, down to a quality woven label tucked away on the inside of a garment.

So, when you’re choosing unique colours for your swing tags or labels, or you need to colour-match to your brand or corporate guidelines, there’s a few things to think about.

Contrasting colours

Making sure your label is easy to read is top priority. Whatever your label will say, the text needs to be legible, whatever background it’s on. So be aware of the level of contrast between yarns.

This especially applies to woven labels. Because they’re threaded from top to bottom, a dark background colour may struggle to hold a dark text colour. Printed labels are slightly easier to work with, as the colours sit next to each other, giving you more versatile colour options.

Choosing and matching your colours

This is usually one of our clients most important requirements, and they’ll often have specific brand colours to match to. In this case, Asquith Group can work from any given Pantone colour reference to match your company branding.

If specific corporate colours aren’t an issue, then we can get the best match available from any colour swatch, or fabric sample material, that’s given to us.

Colour matching to Pantone references is not an exact science and depends on the material you choose for your labels. This especially applies to swing tickets and the paper stock chosen. It’s worth remembering that every colour will be compromised to a small degree, both on printed and woven labels. Slight variations between batches can occur.
